Family Health Care of Siouxland Introduces
After-Hours Urgent Care Clinic
Sioux City, IA, Dec. 29, 2003-- Today, Family Health Care of Siouxland
announced the opening of their new Urgent Care Clinic on January
5, 2004. Urgent Care is an after-hours medical clinic that provides
essential, but non-emergency, health care for people when their
doctor’s office is closed for the day, weekend, or holidays.
Urgent Care is equipped for quick diagnoses and treatment of illnesses
and injuries such as, colds, flu, fever, sore throat, infections,
minor burns and cuts, simple broken bones, and other non-emergent
conditions. Anyone can walk in without an appointment and get immediate
attention.
“The idea of Urgent Care was formulated when so many of our
patients were calling for late afternoon or after-hour appointments
because of sudden illness or minor injuries,” commented Dr.
Lisa Remer, Medical Director of Urgent Care. “Rather than
scheduling an appointment for the next day, they would go to the
emergency room at a local hospital, which is more costly and time
consuming than a visit to Urgent Care,” explained Dr. Remer.
Family Health Care, with a total of eighteen doctors, is the largest
independent network of family practice doctors in the Siouxland
region, operating out of 5 different locations in the Siouxland
area: Dakota Dunes Clinic, Indian Hills Clinic, Morningside Clinic,
Northside Clinic and Sunnybrook Clinic.
The Urgent
Care Clinic (www.fhcsl.com), located in the Northside facility at
4230 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City, Iowa, (712)224-5550, will be open
Monday through Friday 6 PM to 9 PM, Saturday and Sunday, 12 PM to
6 PM and during holidays, 12 PM to 6 PM. The cost is equal to that
of an office visit or co-pay instead of the pricey deductible amount
that an emergency room visit will cost you.
